Sundt Thirst Aid Drive Donates Nearly 195,000 Bottles of Water for Phoenix Homeless

 |  Press Release

TEMPE (May 19, 2017) – As triple-digit temperatures become more frequent in the Valley, heat-related illnesses and deaths become a concern, especially among the homeless. The annual Sundt Thirst-Aid Drive on Friday donated nearly 195,000 bottles of water to benefit St. Joseph the Worker and its partner agencies who assist Greater Phoenix’s underserved population. DSCN1125

Sundt employee-owners loaded pallets of water onto a semi-truck, donated by Sunstate Equipment, at the company’s headquarters in Tempe, then delivered it to St. Joseph the Worker this morning, where they were greeted with cheers from St. Joseph employees and volunteers.

The Sundt Foundation founded the event and sponsors it each year, encouraging employees and partners in the construction community to donate cases of bottled water and funds. Since 2010, donors to Thirst-Aid have contributed more than a million bottles of water.

“I’m always so impressed by the generosity of the Sundt employees, our subcontractors, suppliers and vendors,” said Lisa White, Thirst-Aid organizer and a Sundt employee-owner. “A bottle of water seems small, yet the relief it can provide to a homeless individual is huge. It’s great to see how our community can come together to help those who are less fortunate.”

St. Joseph the Worker and its partner agencies will distribute close to 4,000 bottles of water each day during the summer.
