Sundt Starts Work on Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Prescott, Ariz. (February 11, 2025) – Sundt Construction recently started work for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on the T-3 Residence Halls and the Strategic Academic Flight Education (S.A.F.E) Building, marking Sundt’s third and fourth projects with the university.

“We’re pleased to continue our partnership with Embry-Riddle,” said Project Executive Shawn Blubaum. “These projects reflect our commitment to supporting the university’s growth, and we look forward to delivering these vital facilities.”

The T-3 Residence Halls is an $80 million project that will deliver two new, 80,000-square-foot, four-story student housing complexes. This project will become home for 300 students, helping to address the critical need for housing in the area.

The S.A.F.E. Building at Prescott Airport is a $10 million, 20,000-square-foot facility that will support Embry-Riddle’s flight training programs. Designed to help meet the growing demand for skilled pilots, the scope includes a two-story aircraft hangar and flight simulators.

“The construction of the T-3 Residence Halls and the S.A.F.E. Building is a pivotal step in Embry-Riddle’s mission to educate the next generation of aviation and aerospace professionals,” said Embry-Riddle Prescott Chancellor Dr. Ken Witcher. “These new facilities will enhance the learning experience and provide state-of-the-art resources that are essential for students’ education and training. As we expand, we are deeply committed to offering top-tier programs and facilities that will prepare our Eagles to succeed in the workforce of the future.”

Sundt delivered two critical projects for Embry-Riddle in 2017 and 2018. The company completed the university’s STEM Education Center and Planetarium in 2017, a cutting-edge facility that supports programs for students, faculty and the general public. The following year, the contractor completed Embry-Riddle’s T2 Residence Hall—a three-story, 73,000-square-foot building, which houses 282 students. Construction was completed in just 14 months.
