EL PASO, Texas (February 10, 2022) – Sundt Construction recently broke ground on the new Eastside Regional Police Command Center near Pebble Hills High School in El Paso.
“We are excited to start this project and further our relationship with the City of El Paso,” said Joe Riccillo, project director and Sundt’s El Paso office leader. “Being able to assist with and improve the public safety of El Paso is important to us as we continue to build critical infrastructure in the region.”
The $33 million project is a 41,278-square-foot facility that will share the site with a future fire station. The new command center will include holding cells, interrogation rooms, sally ports, office and fitness areas for staff, community room and public parking.
Since being awarded a construction manager at risk contract for the project, Sundt has spent time collaborating with the architect, MNK. The project is expected to be completed in 2023. The Command Center is part of the 2019 voter-approved $413 million public safety bond.
During the past ten years, Sundt has completed millions of dollars worth of construction in the El Paso region. The company recently revitalized the historic Blue Flame building in downtown El Paso and the Texas Department of Transportation’s I-10 Connect project. The company has offices in El Paso, Dallas and San Antonio and over $3 billion of past work throughout Texas.
