Sources of all types – U.S. News & World Report, Zillow, Bloomberg and the Huffington Post, to name a few – say San Diego is one of the best places to live in the country. Sundt employees there have it even better with the confirmation last week that the company remains one of the best places to work in the city.
We finished 16th among large companies (250 to 1,999 employees) in the Best Places to Work in San Diego competition. The awards ceremony was last Thursday at the Paradise Point Resort and Spa. We have made the list all eight years the San Diego Business Journal program has been in place.
To qualify, companies completed a survey detailing their policies, practices, benefits and demographics. The second part of the competition was an employee engagement and satisfaction survey, which included a set of 78 in-depth statements that employees were asked to respond to on a 1- 5 scale of “Strongly Disagree” to “Strongly Agree.” The section also included two open-ended and seven demographic questions.
In our application, we highlighted our employee stock ownership plan, wellness initiatives, tuition reimbursement and Center for Craft Excellence as programs that attract and retain employee-owners.
