Sundt Foundation Supports Five San Diego Charities

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (May 26, 2021) – The Sundt Foundation awarded $12,500 in grants to five San Diego area nonprofits during its current giving round.

“Supporting our local community and building prosperity is at the core of Sundt’s purpose,” said Ryan Nessen, the Sundt Foundation’s San Diego region board member and senior vice president and California district manager for the company’s Building Group. “Each of these charities may have different missions, but each is crucial to building a better San Diego.”

Nonprofits receiving the grants include:

The Alpha Project for the Homeless of San Diego received $1,500 to provide work, recovery and support services for the homeless through their Rapid Re-Housing program.

Workshop for Warriors, which received $3,000, provides programs to train, certify and place low-income veterans into a career.

YWCA of San Diego County received $2,400 to support their Becky’s House Domestic Violence program, which provides various services to domestic violence survivors.

Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego, which received $3,000, allows children who have recently been diagnosed with a critical illness to experience a once-in-a-lifetime moment by granting them a “wish.”

Mama’s Kitchen, which received $2,600, provides nutritional meals to children at risk of hunger or malnutrition due to their parent’s critical illness. Their program offers nutrition to at-risk kids to avoid the adverse behavioral, educational and health effects of childhood hunger.

The Sundt Foundation awards quarterly grants to San Diego-area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of Sundt employee-owners.
