IRVINE, Calif. (December 5, 2023) – The Sundt Foundation presented a check for $4,325 to the Friendly Center to support their after-school program, The Power of Me.
The Friendly Center seeks to provide stability, opportunity and hope to children and families in poverty with the ultimate goal of ending the cycle of generational poverty in Orange County. The Power of Me is a free, year-round academic program that provides homework help, tutoring, S.T.E.A.M. programming, literacy curriculum and social services to at-risk youths grades 1-8.
“The Sundt Foundation in Irvine is thrilled to support Friendly Center’s after-school program, The Power of Me,” said Rachel Perez, Irvine’s regional board member for the Foundation. “This program sets students from low-income households up for success by building a solid educational foundation for high school, college and beyond. Access to education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty.”
The Sundt Foundation’s Irvine giving area serves the greater Los Angeles/Orange County region has awarded over $118,000 in grants to over a dozen diverse and deserving organizations directly serving our community. Nonprofits are selected through an application and review process led by a committee of local Sundt employee-owners.
