Of the many nonprofit organizations funded each year by the Sundt Foundation, many work to improve the lives of children. One that does particularly interesting and compelling work is Rosie’s House, a free afterschool music academy for disadvantaged children in inner-city Phoenix, Ariz. The nonprofit’s philosophy is that music education can be a catalyst for changing children’s lives because it builds a person’s heart, mind, character, home, community and future.
Sundt recently gave Rosie’s House a $1,500 grant, which will fund a piano group class for six new students from low-income families. Sundt Foundation board member Lisa White had the opportunity to drop the check off personally and was impressed with what she saw.
“I am so glad we were able to provide them the funds to accomplish their goals. The grant money will make a huge impact on the lives of six children.”
The Sundt Foundation raises money primarily through contributions from Sundt employees, which are then matched dollar-for-dollar by the company. Since its inception in 1999 the Foundation has made grants totaling more than $5 million to hundreds of worthy organizations. Most grants are awarded in communities where Sundt has an established office. Employees can also direct their donations to charitable organizations that benefit members of the military and their families.
