 |  Civil & Transportation, Press Release

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (November 5, 2020) – The Sundt Foundation awarded $14,800 in grants to seven San Diego nonprofits during its fourth quarter giving round.

The Sundt Foundation awards quarterly grants to San Diego-area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of Sundt employee-owners.

“Being able to live our company’s purpose every day and give back to our community is very rewarding for our employee-owners,” said Ryan Nessen, the Sundt Foundation’s San Diego region board member. “All seven charities selected this quarter are worthy of being selected for the work they’re doing to make San Diego a better place.”

Fourth-quarter grants include:

The Wounded Warrior Project received $5,000 to support its programs and services for wounded veterans who have Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, combat stress and other invisible injuries. They also provide services to help physical wellness, building social connections, and caregiver needs for the most severely injured.

Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego, which received $3,000, allows children who have recently been diagnosed with a critical illness to experience a once-in-a-lifetime moment by granting them a “wish.”

Rise Up Industries in La Mesa was awarded $2,500 to support gang prevention, gang intervention and post-detention reentry.

The Boys and Girls Club of East County received $2,150 to support its afterschool and summer program for disadvantaged youth. The program provides learning opportunities that reinforce positive academic outcomes and encourage learning.

Special Olympics Southern California – San Diego Region received $2,150 to support year-round sports training and athletic competition in various Olympic sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
