SAN DIEGO, Calif. (February 11, 2020) – The Sundt Foundation awarded $16,400 in grants to five San Diego nonprofits during its first-quarter disbursements.
“San Diego is very passionate in giving back to the community in which we work and live, especially to an organization such as Make-A-Wish Foundation,” said Elizabeth Tague, the Sundt Foundation’s San Diego region board member. “Make-A-Wish works to improve the quality of life for a sick child through an unforgettable moment. Life-affirming wishes can give back what the illness takes away, providing strength for the families. We funded the organization this quarter because their mission aligns with our committee’s sentiments.”
First-quarter grants include:
ElderHelp of San Diego, receiving $3,600, serves disadvantaged seniors who continue to live in their homes and need special assistance with transportation, visitors and additional support.
Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego, which received $3,600, allows children who have recently been diagnosed with a critical illness to experience a once-in-a-lifetime moment by granting them a “wish.”
Straight from the Heart, receiving $3,600, provides services and resources for foster families. Through this grant, they will be able to provide training classes, special need items for children with disabilities and any other supplies families may need that otherwise wouldn’t be affordable.
Veterans Association of North County, who received $3,600, supports disabled and wounded veterans coming home that need a smooth transition into civilian life and work.
Voices for Children, who received $2,000, provides advocates for children in foster care to make sure they are supported with the developmental, educational, physical, and mental health services they need.
The Sundt Foundation awards grants each quarter to area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of Sundt employee-owners.
