SACRAMENTO, Calif. (February 6, 2020) – The Sundt Foundation awarded a total of $16,000 in grants to four Northern California-area nonprofits during its first-quarter disbursements.
“We received so many wonderful grant requests this quarter,” said Madison Jones, Sundt Foundation’s Northern California board member. “When a family couldn’t find a suitable camp where their son (who has congenital heart defects) could actively participate and keep up with the other kids, they decided to create their own camp and offer it to other children with similar issues. Their story is so inspiring, and we’re proud to support Camp Taylor, along with three other charities this quarter.”
First-quarter grants include:
Camp Taylor, Inc., which received $4,000, is a camp dedicated to youth with congenital heart defects. They run various free, three- to five-day medically supervised camp programs, serving more than 600 pediatric cardiac patients a year.
Sacramento Loaves & Fishes received $4,000 to support their hospitality program that provides a safe environment to homeless women and children. They offer personalized services including crisis intervention and resource counseling, and they also collaborate with various community organizations including local domestic violence shelters.
Studios for the Performing Arts Operating Company, which received $4,000, will be able to provide scholarships for disadvantaged children to participate in their performing arts summer camp. This camp provides disadvantaged children with the tools they need to excel in a broad range of disciplines throughout their academic life and professional career.
National Inventors Hall of Fame, Inc. received $2,000 to give underprivileged children access to summer learning programs that encourage innovation, hands-on STEM activities and more.
The Sundt Foundation awards grants each quarter to area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of Sundt employee-owners.
