“The organizations selected this quarter are all working to better the lives of disadvantaged children in our community,” said Joe Riccillo, the Sundt Foundation’s El Paso region board member.   “From well-known organizations like the Make-a-Wish Foundation to local but nationally recognized organizations like Creative Kids that work with disadvantaged youth through art programs, we choose organizations that touch on a variety of issues affecting children and youth in our community.”

First-quarter grants include:

Creative Kids, which received $1,500, is an art education agency whose mission is to provide a high-quality creative youth development program utilizing the power of visual art.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation received $1,250 to help in granting wishes to the 77 children on the waiting list. The Foundation grants wishes to children suffering from a critical illness.

Guiding Star El Paso received $1,000 to sponsor a room called the “man cave.” It is a place where men can go while their female partners receive services at the facility. The organization provides family planning, pregnancy care and family life resources.

The Trost Society received $1,000 to support an educational series aimed to educate seventh-and eighth-grade students about the value of preserving historic buildings in their community.

The Sundt Foundation awards grants quarterly to area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of Sundt employee-owners.
