FORT WORTH, Texas (March 6, 2020) – The Sundt Foundation awarded $16,500 in grants to seven North Texas nonprofits during its first-quarter disbursements.
“Our Sundt employee-owners are passionate about giving back to the communities where we live and work,” said Elizabeth Harvey, the Sundt Foundation’s North Texas board member. “Each of these well deserving organizations are close to either a jobsite or our offices, providing additional opportunities for us to lend a hand and volunteer.”
Grants for the first quarter included:
Arlington Charities, which received $3,000 to provide food services, case management and benefits enrollment for low-income senior housing.
Communities in Schools of North Texas, which received $2,000, provides case management programs to students who are at risk of dropping out of school with services that target their barriers to success and keep them on track for graduation.
Literacy United, who received $2,000, provides literacy programs to economically disadvantaged, at-risk youth. One of their outreach programs is with the Boys and Girls Club of Tarrant County, which is located near Sundt’s Southeast Arlington Recreation Center project.
The MHMR Foundation received $3,000 to support treatment and mental health services to adolescents and their families that are recovering from substance use and chemical dependency.
National Inventors Hall of Fame, Inc. received $2,000 to give underprivileged children access to summer learning programs that encourage innovation, hands-on STEM activities and more.
The Smiles for Everyone Foundation, which received $2,000, provides dental services and education to homeless and impoverished individuals in Collin, Denton and Tarrant counties.
The Tarrant County Samaritan Housing, Inc. received $2,500 to assist in providing supportive services for the women and children living in Grace Village. This program is comprised of six single-parent households designated for previously homeless single mothers with mental or physical disabilities and their children.
The Sundt Foundation awards grants each quarter to area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of Sundt employee-owners.
