SAN DIEGO, Calif. (December 22, 2021) – The Sundt Foundation awarded over $14,000 in grants to five nonprofits in San Diego and the surrounding area during its current giving round. San Diego Habitat for Humanity, the Wounded Warrior Homes, Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego, Helping Paw Foundation and Angels Foster Family Agency all received a grant.
“Supporting these five organizations allows our employee-owners to see what kind of difference they can make in their communities,” said Ryan Nessen, the Sundt Foundation’s San Diego region board member. “The Sundt Foundation allows us to live up to our company’s purpose.”
San Diego Habitat for Humanity will use its grant of $4,000 to make repairs on six veterans’ homes by June 2022. The organization’s Veteran Home Repair program has repaired over 100 homes for veteran and their families in the area.
Wounded Warrior Homes provides housing, treatment and care to veterans in the San Diego area. Their $3,500 grant from the Foundation will go towards the support of 397 veterans and their families throughout the year.
Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego will use their $3,000 grant to make the wishes come true for a child with a critical illness. The Helping Paw Foundation supports veterans who may be struggling to afford care for their pets. The $2,000 grant provided by the Foundation will be used to cover these unexpected veterinary costs. The Angels Foster Family Agency helps provide foster children with a resource family until they are reunited with their parents or have been adopted. Their grant of $1,743 will go towards recruiting and training more resource families.
The Sundt Foundation awards quarterly grants to local San Diego-area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of local Sundt employee-owners.
