SAN DIEGO, Calif. (August 13, 2021) – During its current giving round, the Sundt Foundation awarded $14,100 in grants to five San Diego area nonprofits.
“Each of these San Diego organizations makes an incredible impact within the southern California community,” said Ryan Nessen, the Sundt Foundation’s San Diego region board member, senior vice president and California district manager for the company’s Building Group. “Through the pandemic, they have each dedicated their resources to improving the lives of those in the community.”
Nonprofits receiving the grants include:
San Diego Hunger Coalition received $4,600 to support their Hunger Free Kids program, which ensures all kids have year-round access to nutritious meals in their everyday environment. The nonprofit partners with school districts and youth-serving organizations to provide free training, guidance and hands-on assistance to expand their school meal programs.
Support the Enlisted Project, which received $2,000, provides financial support to junior active duty enlisted members or recently discharged enlisted veterans and their families, who are currently facing financial obstacles.
Meals-on-Wheels of Greater San Diego received $2,000 to provide healthy meals to homebound seniors at high risk of going hungry because they cannot afford to purchase food or prepare meals themselves.
Solutions for Change received $4,000 to support the mental and emotional well-being of disadvantaged and vulnerable families during the initial phase of its Academy. Solutions for Change addresses the root causes of poverty and dependency and equips people with the skills, knowledge, and resources to permanently solve their challenges and transform their lives.
San Diego Humane Society received $1,500 for its PAWS program, which provides resources for homebound, low-income seniors struggling to care for their pets. PAWS delivers pet food, cat litter, other pet supplies and offers financial assistance and transportation for veterinary care and dog walking.
The Sundt Foundation awards quarterly grants to San Diego-area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of Sundt employee-owners.
