Sundt Foundation Donates Nearly $21,000 to San Antonio Charities

 |  Press Release, Sundt Foundation

SAN ANTONIO (March 3, 2020) – The Sundt Foundation awarded nearly $21,000 in grants to six area nonprofits during its first-quarter disbursements.

“One of our six grant recipients this quarter works to prevent children from having to be removed from their parents or guardians,” said Terri Pasley, the Sundt Foundation’s San Antonio region board member. “The efforts of CASA’s volunteer advocates help ensure Bexar County’s foster children receive the medical, developmental, educational and legal assistance they need. Through CASA, grants from The Sundt Foundation are helping to give a voice to the most vulnerable members in our community.”

The Sundt Foundation awards grants each quarter to area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of Sundt employee-owners.

First-quarter grants include:

Achievers Center for Education, which received $2,500, helps students who face difficulties in school—be it with learning disabilities, mental challenges, or bullying—to meet their educational needs. They provide a safe environment tailored to students’ individual needs to make sure they succeed.

Brighton Center received $5,000 to support their Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) program. Their ECI program is a home-based therapy program for children with medically diagnosed conditions, auditory or visual impairment and/or developmental delays. They provide services such as assistive technology, audiology, early identification, developmental screenings, assessments and evaluations, developmental services, family counseling, family education, nutrition services, occupational, physical, and speech language therapy, case management, social work and vision services.

Child Advocates San Antonio, which received $3,300, trains and supports volunteers from the community to advocate for abused and neglected children who need representation in the family court system, striving to provide them a safe and permanent home.

ChildSafe, which received $2,500, provides services to children who have been victims of abuse and neglect by offering a trauma-focused care center and partnering with law enforcement, health professionals, child protective services and prosecution.

Chosen Care, Inc., receiving $5,000, supports families and vulnerable children with mentoring, parenting education and outreach. They specialize in adoption care, foster care support and relative caregiver support.

Haven for Hope of Bexar County, which received $2,500, provides care and shelter for the homeless, with the majority being families. In addition to shelter, they provide services such as basic needs assistance, case management and family enrichment services.
