Sundt Foundation Donates COVID-19 Relief Aid in Northern Cal

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (May 26, 2020) – The Sundt Foundation donated a total of $11,000 to two local organizations to support the increased demand at food banks during the COVID-19 pandemic. Both Elk Grove Food Bank and Yolo Food Bank received $5,500.

“Our Foundation members are humbled to offer their support during these unexpected times and are grateful for those working on the frontlines to keep their communities safe,” said Madison Jones, the Sundt Foundation’s Northern California board member. “Our Foundation board made a swift decision to donate $200,000 in relief aid to over 20 nonprofits across our nine geographic markets, including two here in the Northern California region.”

The Elk Grove Food Bank serves thousands of seniors in the Elk Grove area and has seven mobile distribution sites. The Yolo Food Bank has seen a 30 percent increase in demand for food assistance in Yolo County since the start of the pandemic.

“Thank you so much for your pledge to further our COVID-19 emergency food response in Yolo County. We are honored by the Sundt Foundation’s meaningful recognition of our essential work,” said Joy Cohan, Yolo Food Bank’s director of philanthropic engagement.

Additionally, the Sundt Foundation provided $10,000 to four local organizations during its regular second-quarter grant distributions. 916 Ink, Camp Kesem at UC Davis, One Step Beyond, Inc., Sacramento Children’s Museum each received $2,500.

The Sundt Foundation awards grants each quarter to nonprofit organizations that support disadvantaged children and families. Grant recipients are selected through an application process, then reviewed by Sundt employee-owners within their local giving area.
