SAN DIEGO, Calif. (May 28, 2020) – The Sundt Foundation donated $18,000 to two local nonprofits to aid them during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mama’s Kitchen and Meals on Wheels San Diego County both received $9,000 grants to help them meet the essential needs of those they serve.
“We wanted to help support the most vulnerable in San Diego during this pandemic,” said Ryan Nessen, the Sundt Foundation’s San Diego region board member. “Our Foundation board made a swift decision to donate $200,000 in relief aid to over 20 nonprofits across our nine geographic markets, including two right here in the San Diego County.”
Mama’s Kitchen has seen an increase in demand for its services and is delivering more meals than ever to critically ill neighbors. San Diego County’s Meals on Wheels program continues to provide nutritious meals for seniors during the pandemic.
“Both Mama’s Kitchen and Meals on Wheels provide nutritious meals to vulnerable populations that are at high risk during this pandemic. We are very proud to be able to support our community during these unprecedented times,” Nessen added.
The Sundt Foundation additionally awarded $17,000 to five local organizations during its second-quarter distributions. This included a $5,000 grant to Feeding San Diego. Other grant recipients were Workshop for Warriors, Burn Institute, Casa de Amparo and Kitchens for Good; all received $3,000.
The Sundt Foundation awards grants each quarter to nonprofit organizations that support disadvantaged children and families. Grant recipients are selected through an application process, then reviewed by Sundt employee-owners within their local giving area.
