PORTLAND (February 28, 2022) – The Sundt Foundation awarded $7,000 to two Portland-area nonprofits during its first giving round. Bridging the Gap – Oregon received a $5,000 grant and the Oregon Society of Artists received a $2,000 grant.six people posing for a photo outside of a building where two of them are holding a check

“Giving back to our communities is a top priority at Sundt,” said Ken Kubacki, Portland’s Sundt Foundation board member. “Both of these organizations work continuously to improve our community and we were more than happy to contribute.”

Bridging the Gap is working to implement a regional-based mobile app to help victims of sex trafficking. The app allows instant messaging between victims and organizations with the resources to assist. The grant will help fund the app launch in the Portland area for the Northwest Anti-Trafficking Coalition.

The Oregon Society of Artists introduced its Veteran’s Art Program in 2017. This program consists of classes and an exhibition each November. The program had been previously grant-funded by the federal government, but the funding has since ended. The grant from the Sundt Foundation will allow the nonprofit to continue to provide these classes and expand its program.

The Sundt Foundation awards quarterly grants to local Portland-area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of local Sundt employee-owners.
