Sundt Foundation Donates $6,000 to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children

 |  Press Release

FORT WORTH (March 28, 2017) – The Sundt Foundation recently delivered a $6,000 check to the Pediatric Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia Clinic at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC).

The donation was inspired by Bob Aniol, a Sundt Project Executive, and his passion to raise awareness of Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP). His daughter, Caitlynn, was diagnosed with the condition when she was 4 years old by a physician at TSRHC.

The goal of the HSP Clinic is to improve diagnosis, management and treatment for children. HSP is a rare condition, and donations like those from the Sundt Foundation give clinic doctors the opportunity to increase public awareness of their research.

“HSP is a rare condition that very few people know about,” Aniol said. “People with HSP and researchers studying HSP don’t have a funding stream to do research. Our goals in the HSP community are to build awareness and fund research.”

Aniol praises the HSP clinic for its support of his family in understanding how to manage his daughter’s condition. Today, Caitlynn is a thriving 16-year-old who loves going to concerts and hopes to attend Texas A&M, her parents’ alma mater.
