SAN DIEGO, Calif. (December 3, 2019) – The Sundt Foundation awarded a total of $20,000 in grants to four San Diego nonprofits during its fourth-quarter disbursements.
“Supporting our local community is at the core of Sundt’s purpose,” said Elizabeth Tague, the Sundt Foundation’s San Diego region board member. “If we can help these organizations get closer to achieving their missions by donating time and money, we will. We want to always build prosperity for our communities.”
Fourth-quarter grants include:
Challenged Athletes Foundation, which received $7,500, provides opportunities and support to people with physical challenges so they can pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive athletics.
Special Olympics Southern California received $2,500 to support their program, which provides training and competition for students in special education or adapted physical education classes. The students receive specific training in one sport and have the opportunity to compete with other special education programs in the area.
Mama’s Kitchen, which received $5,000, provides nutritional meals to children at risk of hunger or malnutrition due to their parent’s critical illness. Their program provides the nutrition at-risk kids need to avoid the adverse behavioral, educational and health effects of childhood hunger.
Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation of San Diego, which received $5,000, serves disadvantaged women and their families in San Diego County who are at-risk of losing access to utilities, their homes or other basic needs if they choose to pursue or continue treatment for breast cancer.
The Sundt Foundation awards grants each quarter to area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of Sundt employee-owners.
