SAN DIEGO, Calif. (September 16, 2022) – The Sundt Foundation awarded $16,200 in grants to four nonprofits in San Diego and the surrounding area during its current giving round. San Diego Center for Children, Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County, The Children’s Museum, and Boys and Girls Clubs of Oceanside received grants.
“It is inspiring to see how all four nonprofits are making a difference in the community for the better,” said Ryan Nessen, the Sundt Foundation’s San Diego region board member. “Through the Foundation, Sundt employee-owners can help to support these causes and be a part of the difference they are making.”
San Diego Center for Children serves over 200 children with mental, emotional and behavioral disorders annually. The $4,900 in grant funds will be used to support the organization’s math program, which identifies students performing below grade level in math.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County received $4,800 to help continue its mentorship program for struggling youth, including essential training for staff and volunteers as they work with this vulnerable population.
The Children’s Museum will use its $3,500 grant in multiple ways. The Museum will provide a quieter, less chaotic museum experience for children and families who may have sensory differences through accessibility mornings, a breathing room and a sensory friendly guide.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Oceanside received a $3,000 grant to support its after-school programming that focuses on combatting post-pandemic academic needs through experience-based learning.
The Sundt Foundation awards quarterly grants to local San Diego-area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and revised by a committee of local Sundt employee-owners.
