Sundt Foundation Donates $15,000 to Northern California Charities

 |  Press Release

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (April 13, 2017) – The Sundt Foundation recently selected three Northern California charities to receive $5,000 grants.

Lighthouse Counseling & Family Resource Center is dedicated to providing Placer County residents with readily accessible services at no cost to children, adults and families who need physical, emotional and/or mental health resources to improve their quality of life. The grant from the Sundt Foundation will support Lighthouse’s Strong Youth Initiative, which provides comprehensive services to children and teenagers who are affected by poverty, domestic violence, mental health or other forms of distress.

A grant to Mercy Housing of California, Sacramento, will support its Youth Development Program. The program, based in the Leataata Floyd Community Center on the campus of Leataata Floyd Elementary School, provides a safe space, offering youth programs to develop leadership skills and increase health and wellness, community connections and academic success. The mission of Mercy Housing is to create stable, vibrant and healthy communities by developing, financing and operating affordable, program-enriched housing for families, seniors and people with special needs.

Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments in Fremont provides shelter, support and educational opportunities to help individuals and families break the cycle of domestic violence. The organization will dedicate its grant award toward providing emergency hotel vouchers to victims of domestic violence who are in immediate danger and have no other options for nightly housing. Vouchers are provided to clients if it is after-hours, shelters are full or extenuating circumstances prevent communal living.
