EL PASO, Texas (May 29, 2019) – The Sundt Foundation awarded $5,000 to Texas Tech Foundation in support of the breast cancer clinic at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso during its second-quarter disbursements. 
The grant will be used to help provide patient care, educational materials and equipment. The Breast Care Center provides high quality care and treatment options for patients with breast disease.
“With over three million women in the country affected by breast cancer, it can touch each of us through a mother, wife, sister or friend,” said Joseph Riccillo, the Sundt Foundation’s region board member. “For this reason, it was critically important to the Sundt Foundation to support Texas Tech’s Breast Care Center to enable Dr. [Karinn] Chambers and her staff to continue providing life-saving services to women in our community at little to no cost.”

Books are Gems, which received $1,000, is a bookstore whose mission is to inspire children and empower families through literacy.
The Boys and Girls Club of El Paso received $2,000 to supports its afterschool and summer program for disadvantaged youth ages 6 through 18. The program provides learning opportunities that reinforce positive academic outcomes and encourage learning.
Down Syndrome Coalition for El Paso received $1,000 to supports its Every Little Blessing Preschool, which focuses on success and independence.
The El Paso Children’ Hospital Foundation received $2,000 to support its Child Life Therapeutic Arts Program for hospitalized children.
El Paso’s Miracle League Inc., which received $1,000, hosts recreational opportunities for children and individuals with disabilities regardless of his or her ability. The grant will alleviate the burden of the cost of uniforms and equipment for each Miracle League plate.
YMCA of El Paso received $1,000 to give disadvantaged families and individuals access to become healthier in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Kids Excel El Paso, which received $2,000, helps children develop discipline, a standard of excellence and self-confidence that will positively impact their education and all aspects of their lives one dance step at a time.
The Sundt Foundation awards grants quarterly to area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of Sundt employee-owners.
