PORTLAND (September 6, 2022) – During its most recent giving round, the Sundt Foundation awarded $10,000 to two Portland-area nonprofits. Bloomin’ Boutique and Candlelighters for Children with Cancer each received $5,000 grants.
“It is great causes like these that make the difference in our community,” said Ken Kubacki, Portland’s Sundt Foundation board member. “Through the Foundation, our employee-owners can see the change they are making in their area.”
Clean, new, well-fitting clothes can be hard to come by for children whose families are experiencing poverty. Bloomin’ Boutique focuses on softening the impact of childhood poverty and improving youth education by making clothes, bedding, school supplies and other needed items accessible.
Candlelighters for Children with Cancer understands the need for support, connection and community during a family’s journey through childhood cancer, especially for the Latinx community. The grant will help the Peer Support Group break cultural and language barriers that prevent Latinx families from accessing support resources.
The Sundt Foundation awards quarterly grants to local Portland-area charities that support disadvantaged children and veterans. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of local Sundt employee-owners.
