TUCSON, Ariz. (January 26, 2024) – The Sundt Foundation distributed $49,000 in its latest round of grants to 11 Tucson nonprofits.
“The Sundt Foundation allows us to give back directly to our community here in Tucson,” said Amy Bojorquez, the Sundt Foundation’s Tucson region board member. “Being able to support these amazing organizations gives the company and our employee-owners a stronger sense of connectedness because they can see firsthand the positive impact on the places in which we live and work.”
The following nonprofits were selected through a review process led by a committee of local Sundt employee-owners and represent a diverse range of groups in need within the community.
The Autism Society of Southern Arizona’s mission is to create connections and empower everyone in the autism community with resources and tools to live fully. The $2,500 grant will expand the capacity of the Playformance Little and Teen Meet Ups program, supporting youth with autism spectrum disorder in developing communication and socialization skills.
Boys to Men Tucson nurtures intentional spaces for boys, men and masculine-identified individuals to practice honest and mindful relationships. Sundt’s contribution of $4,000 will support two high-need sites in Pima County, serving 40 participants weekly over the school year, fostering mentorship, adventure outings and healthy relationship development.
Casa de los Niños received $5,000 to rejuvenate Parenting Time casitas, which ensure a safe and secure environment for supervised family visitations between children and their separated parents or caregivers. The nonprofit aims to prevent child neglect and abuse through a variety of programs and resources.
The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, Arizona Chapter is raising awareness and providing education and support to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients. A grant of $4,000 will support Camp Oasis, which offers crucial support and life-changing experiences for children and teens living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
The El Rio Health Center Foundation serves Southern Arizona by raising funds, hosting events and providing direct support for the community’s healthcare needs. The Sundt Foundation’s $2,500 grant will help positively impact the lives of 100 disadvantaged children diagnosed with severe asthma by covering free allergen skin testing, bilingual asthma education and supplies.
Iskashitaa Refugee Network creates opportunities to integrate UN refugees into the Southern Arizona community while educating the public and strengthening the local food system, reducing local food waste and establishing food security for communities. The $5,000 grant will go towards maintaining the group’s harvest van and to purchase equipment for the upcoming citrus season.
Mobile Meals of Southern Arizona received a $7,500 grant to support its mission to deliver nutritious meals to individuals, specifically the elderly, through a network of caring individuals.
Operation Homefront seeks to build strong, stable and secure military families. The $4,000 grant from the Sundt Foundation will go towards school supplies for 350 military children and holiday meals for 125 military families, contributing to the well-being and stability of local military and veteran populations.
Project Insight is a nonprofit organization that provides quality home care services to individuals with special needs. The organization received a $2,500 grant to help maintain Angie’s Corner, which provides basic necessities to families in need.
Sahuarita Food Bank received $10,000 to provide nutritional support to the Tucson community during this time of rising food and living costs. This money will enable the food bank to assist over 4,000 vulnerable children.
Finally, a grant of $2,000 will help Treasures 4 Educators purchase tools and resources for educators in need of essential classroom supplies.
