DALLAS, Texas (April 15, 2024) – The Sundt Foundation awarded a total of $19,600 in grants to four nonprofits in the Dallas-Fort Worth area: Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Our Daily Bread Inc., The Welman Project and KADA.
“Our foundation members are thrilled to support these remarkable organizations,” said Barbara Terry, the Sundt Foundation’s North Texas region board member. “The selected nonprofits are addressing key needs in our community and making a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals in North Texas.”
Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) – Denton Chapter has been awarded $4,600 to further its mission of providing fully furnished beds to children in need. The grant will support the group’s efforts to furnish at least 100 beds to children in Denton in 2024, fostering a comfortable and secure sleep environment.
Our Daily Bread Inc. received a $5,000 grant to support transportation needs for program participants to appointments, places of employment and essential services. Our Daily Bread aims to increase self-sufficiency and freedom for individuals striving to achieve their goals.
The Welman Project was awarded $5,000 to continue its impactful work in providing school supplies and materials to North Texas teachers. The grant will enable The Welman Project to distribute close to $50,000 worth of materials to schools in the DFW area, supporting teachers and enhancing STEM curriculum through creative reuse of materials.
KADA has received a $5,000 grant to promote hands-on learning experiences in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for disadvantaged children and their families. The grant will support scholarships, educational resources, textbooks, technology tools, mentorship programs and STEM events, fostering a love for STEM and providing opportunities for underrepresented individuals to thrive in these fields.
The Sundt Foundation awards grants on a quarterly basis. Nonprofits are selected through an application and review process, overseen by a committee of local Sundt employee-owners.
