TAMPA, Fla. (March 21, 2024) – The Sundt Foundation awarded $15,000 in grants to four Florida charitable organizations.
“We are honored to support these impactful organizations that are making a real difference in the lives of individuals and families in our community,” said David Rieken, Sundt Foundation regional representative for Florida. “These grants will enable these organizations to continue their critical work and bring positive change to those in need.”
“It was an honor presenting these grant checks to the nonprofits and hearing about the difference these funds can make to individuals and families in need,” said Courtney Meyers, a Sundt employee-owner and member of the local Sundt Foundation committee. “Our Florida region is continuing to grow, and I’m looking forward to seeing the impact we can make on our local community.”
Feeding Tampa Bay received a $2,500 grant that will support their Child Hunger initiatives including the Feeding Minds School Pantry Program, Afterschool Meal Program (AMP) and Summer Food Services Program (SFSP). These programs will provide groceries to families with children through school pantries and serve prepared meals to children in need.
Gift of Adoption Fund received a $5,000 grant to help cover costs and fees associated with adoption, helping families overcome the financial barriers that often hinder the adoption process.
Starting Right, Now, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting unaccompanied homeless youths, received $2,500. This funding will support the operation of the organization’s long-term housing facilities in Tampa and St. Petersburg. Starting Right, Now focuses on providing stable housing, along with wrap-around services such as health care, academic support, financial literacy and job training, to help these youths transition out of homelessness and towards a brighter future.
Find, Feed & Restore, an organization addressing the impact of homelessness on families with children, received a $5,000 grant. The grant will support the Housing First program, which provides families facing unexpected crises with rent and utilities-free housing for six to 12 months. The grant will support the purchase and maintenance of housing units, enabling the organization to continue providing services such as budgeting classes, financial mentorship, mental health counseling, and financial literacy classes.
The Sundt Foundation awards grants on a quarterly basis. Nonprofits are selected through an application and review process led by a committee of local Sundt employee-owners.
