SACRAMENTO (Sept. 12, 2017) – The Sundt Foundation recently awarded a combined $10,000 in grants to California CareForce of Roseville and Sierra Forever Families in Sacramento.
California Careforce, which received $7,500, is a group of medical professionals, community leaders and general volunteers who provide free medical, dental and vision care to those in need at mobile health clinics. The organization makes no restrictions based on income, employment or immigration status.
“At a three-day clinic, we provide free health care to more than 1,500 patients,” said California Careforce Executive Director Pamela Congdon. “This includes fillings, cleanings and extractions, full eye prescriptions and brand new glasses made on site, and general medical, physicals and immunizations. We will have at least 300 to 400 passionate professional and general volunteers helping each day at the clinic.”
Sierra Forever Families, which received $2,500 from Sundt, is an agency that facilitates the development of forever families by making the best possible connections between children and families.
“Our mentoring program gives children in foster care hope for their future by connecting them with a caring consistent adult for a one-year journey of new experiences,” said Sierra Forever Families Director of Development and Public Relations Christie Shorrock. The time spent with their mentor allows our children to develop healthy relationships and heal past trauma. The grant that Sundt generously contributed will enable one child in foster care to participate in this innovative program.”
The Sundt Foundation awards grants quarterly to area charities that support disadvantaged children and adults. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of Sundt employees.
