TEMPE, Ariz. (Feb. 3, 2016) – Three of Sundt Construction, Inc.’s (www.sundt.com) employee-owners have earned Top 20 Under 40 awards from Engineering News-Record (ENR), the industry’s leading publication.
Project Superintendent Todd Gantter, Preconstruction Manager Jon McKelvain and Project Director Chandra Reilly each received the regional award for representing the “Best of the Best” in their construction and design careers by giving back to their industry and communities. The candidates were judged on industry experience and education, career and industry leadership, and community service and involvement.
“These awards are a reflection of Sundt’s culture, which centers around community, collaboration, professional development and quality of life,” said Sundt Director of Talent Acquisition Trevor Gelder. “As a company wholly owned by its employees, we strive to find young, talented individuals like Chandra, Todd and Jon, who not only exemplify excellence but also are passionate about Sundt and the cities and industries where they work and live.”
Gantter and Reilly won in ENR’s Southwest region, which covers Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico. McKelvain’s award came from the Texas and Louisiana region, which also includes Arkansas, Mississippi and Oklahoma.
A construction industry veteran for more than 17 years, Gantter joined Sundt in 2001 as a project engineer. Promoted to superintendent, he has profit/loss responsibility for small to medium-sized building projects throughout the Southwest. Gantter has extensive experience working on a wide range of construction projects, including office, government, military, banks and schools, totaling more than $344 million in value.
McKelvain joined Sundt in 2010 and has more than 15 years of experience in multiple facets of the construction industry. Throughout his career he has held numerous titles including project manager, superintendent, field engineer, senior estimator and preconstruction project manager. His commercial construction experience includes education, office, government, medical and multi-family projects. A military veteran, McKelvain served as an officer in the U.S. Navy and currently is a member of the the Corps of Cadets Association – Texas A&M, Associated General Contractors (AGC) San Antonio Chapter, Urban Land Institute – San Antonio and American Legion Post 592.
Reilly, a Sundt team member since 2013, has more than a dozen years of business development, strategic planning, preconstruction management and project management experience. In just two years, Reilly helped Sundt create and build a practice focused exclusively on hospitality, on a nationwide scale. Currently, her group is working on approximately $250 million in hospitality projects and is a driving force behind Sundt’s growing national footprint. She is strongly committed to being part of the next evolution of the construction business in which contractors are seen as valuable, collaborative partners, and innovations in construction technology and project delivery can be put into practice.
