SAN ANTONIO (May 18, 2022) – Sundt Construction completed the Tech Port Center + Arena in San Antonio. The facility is in the middle of the 1,900-acre campus, which already houses more than 80 employers and 14,000 employees.
“I am so proud of our team and everyone who worked on this project,” said Holly Horsak, Sundt’s project manager. “The opening of the facility is exciting for San Antonio. It will be a leading destination for people hosting esports events, entertainment and cultural experiences.”
The $60 million Center + Arena is a state-of-the-art place for entertainment experiences. The 130,000-square-foot facility features a 3,200-seat arena that will host various entertainment events, including esports competitions, concerts and large training programs. The Center will also be the new home of the San Antonio Museum of Science and Technology, which will host numerous exhibits, demonstrations and classes.
“To be able to build a project that will have such a global reach is a project experience our team will remember,” added Horsak. “The port campus continues to be one of the nation’s fastest-growing innovative destinations – this project adds to the vision to transform this space into an innovative hub.”
The project also included adding integrated classrooms and meeting spaces for educational programs, a research and development technology collaboration lab, a large 24-hour electronic gaming area and a full-scale food hall. A highlight of the project included the installation of eight Tesla coils, the largest display of its kind in the world.
In Texas, Sundt has 50 years and $3 billion of project experience, with offices in San Antonio, Dallas and El Paso. In addition to the Tech Port Center + Arena the company is currently working on the San Pedro Creek Improvements, the Broadway Street improvements, and just started on Zona Cultural in downtown San Antonio.
