Sundt Breaks Ground on California State University Fullerton Student Housing Expansion

Fullerton, CA (November 19, 2024) – Sundt Construction recently celebrated the start of a student housing project that will house 500 students for California State University, Fullerton.

“We’re excited to be getting underway on our second student housing project for the Fullerton campus,” said Sundt Vice President and Irvine Regional Manager Jim Householder. “They’re entrusting us with the revitalization of one of Fullerton’s oldest residential communities. Once complete, Cal State Fullerton will be able to house 500 students with this expansion, helping them meet swiftly increasing demand.”

This project will replace the Jewel Plummer and Cobb Residence Halls, the first student housing complexes at Cal State Fullerton, which were completed in 1979. The new facility will be 175,000 square feet, and housing units consist of two-bedroom, two-bath apartments with kitchens and living spaces, two-bedroom staff apartments and one-bedroom resident advisor apartments. The project also includes ground-floor shared amenities and support spaces, an updated connection to the campus arboretum and an 82-stall parking lot.

Sundt has over 70 years of diverse project experience throughout the state of California. The company has offices in San Diego, Irvine and Sacramento. Sundt is currently working on the Fine Arts Renovation project for Cypress College and multiple projects for San Diego Unified School District. The contractor recently completed the Airport Administration Building at San Diego International Airport (SDIA), the fourth for the airport.
