TEMPE, Ariz. (January 26, 2024) – Sundt Construction awarded $111,500 in grants to 17 Phoenix area nonprofits in Q4.
“The excitement of delivering these checks never gets old,” said Scott LaPoint, the Sundt Foundation’s Phoenix region board member. “It’s truly amazing seeing the total grant amount and number of organizations we’re able to support go up every quarter. It’s all thanks to the generosity of our employee-owners.”
The following nonprofits received $10,000 grants: Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS), Maggie’s Place, Midwest Food Bank NFP, Military Assistance Mission, New Pathways for Youth, One Small Step, Power Paws Assistance Dogs and Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center.
CASS’s Family Shelter programs help end homelessness by providing support and resources to children and families that allow them to sustain permanent housing. Other assistance includes help obtaining housing, employment, childcare, benefits, mental health services, healthcare, substance abuse services, transportation and other resources based on individual need.
Maggie’s Place focuses on transforming the lives of pregnant women and new mothers facing homelessness in Maricopa County by offering a supportive home environment with nutritious meals, essential maternity and infant supplies, prenatal healthcare, weekly therapeutic counseling, and more resources. This grant will go towards funding its Tempe residential facility, The Elizabeth House.
Midwest Food Bank distributes nutritious food to families in need, and this grant will go towards procuring more food to be distributed throughout the community.
Military Assistance Mission seeks to alleviate the burdens that military members and their families face during and after service. This grant will improve the lives and well-being of Arizona service members by providing financial assistance, education support and morale-boosting events.
New Pathways for Youth will use this grant to pilot its classroom-embedded Level Up Academy, which will support 60 disadvantaged freshman students attending two Phoenix Union High School District schools.
One Small Step will use its grant to fund the Clothes Cabin clothing bank. The clothing bank provides quality clothing, shoes, linens and hygiene goods to anyone in need across the Valley, youth and adults alike.
Power Paws Assistance Dogs provides mental health support and trained service dogs to assist in preparing survivors of sexual and/or domestic abuse to testify against their abusers in court.
Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center will use its grant to fund its JumpStart program. This program helps support and empower parents and families with children who have recently been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. This program educates parents about autism and provides training and tools to navigate the unique needs of a child on the spectrum.
Additional grant recipients were: Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Centers, Assistance League of Phoenix, Bob’s Free Bikes, Control Alt Delete, Duet: Partners in Health and Aging, Heal the Hero Foundation, Live & Learn Program, National Council of Jewish Women Inc. AZ Section and Nourish Phoenix.
