About the Special Grant Cycle

To recognize its 25th anniversary, the Sundt Foundation is hosting a special grant cycle to give back even more to our local committees and the nonprofit organizations that we’ve partnered with over the years.
From May 20 – June 7, this special grant cycle will be open to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that meet our giving guidelines. Each of our 12 committees will have one $25,000 grant to award to a local nonprofit organization in their area, totaling $300,000 given back during this cycle.

FAQ

When will the grant cycle be open?

This special grant application will be open from May 20 – June 7, 2024. The application will close by end of day on June 7, AZ time.

What type of organizations are eligible to apply?

Before applying, we encourage any potential applicants to review the Sundt Foundation’s giving guidelines to ensure that your organization is a fit for the grant cycle. Please note that this special grant cycle is separate from our quarterly grant cycle, so if you were awarded a grant within the last year, you are still eligible to apply because these two grant cycles are separate.

Can I apply if I was declined for a quarterly grant?

If you meet our giving guidelines, you may still apply. Many times, applications are declined due to a lack of funding, so we encourage you to take part in this additional opportunity to apply for giving from the Sundt Foundation. If you were declined due to not meeting our giving guidelines, we encourage you to review them and apply if you now meet them all.

It looks like there are multiple programs to apply to. Which one is the special grant cycle?

For this specific grant cycle, we are asking you to apply for the program titled “25th Anniversary Special Grant”. Any applications submitted through there will be considered for this cycle. All other applications submitted in the region-based programs will be considered in our regular quarterly grant cycle.

If I applied within the last year or was awarded a grant in the last year, am I still eligible to apply?

Yes, this special grant cycle is separate from our regular quarterly grant cycle, so if you did apply or were awarded recently, you can still apply for this special grant cycle.

How will the grant recipient in each area be decided?

Local committees of employee-owners will be reviewing the grant applications received and narrowing them down to 3 top applicants. From there, all local employee-owners will have the opportunity to vote and decide the one recipient!

If I apply, when will I hear back from you with a decision?

You can anticipate hearing back on a grant decision in early August.

About the Sundt Foundation

Service has been a core value at Sundt Construction since its inception in 1890; building prosperity for our teams, our clients and our communities was our purpose long before we put it into words. Sundt took a momentous step in fulfilling that purpose in 1999, creating the Sundt Foundation as a way for our passionate employee-owners to improve the communities where we live and work. Over the last 25 years, we have awarded $15M in grants and contributing thousands of volunteer hours in support of causes close to our hearts, challenging ourselves to do more each year.

When the Foundation first started, five local committees of employee-owners – all based in the Southwest – reviewed and awarded quarterly grants. Following Sundt Construction’s geographic growth since then, the Foundation now proudly operates 12 giving committees around the country that award grants and organize numerous events to support the needs in their local communities. Last year, the Sundt Foundation awarded nearly $1.87 million to nonprofit organizations across the United States.
