Project Overview
This four-story, 203,032-square-foot parking garage for VIA Metropolitan Transit in San Antonio is a cast-in-place concrete structure with precast concrete and architectural metal panel façade. It is located on the southwest corner of the intersection of US 281 and Stone Oak Parkway, and includes an air-conditioned transit terminal, including a lobby, offices, ticket area, public restrooms, and vending area. Construction included deep rock excavations, protection of sensitive geologic features over the Edwards Aquifer and advanced storm water management.
The 406-space park and ride facility helps alleviate traffic stress in north San Antonio, and was built to meet the need for a quick and convenient way to reach downtown. The facility provides riders sheltered, air-conditioned waiting areas with elevators to multi-story parking. VIA Stone Oak also features access lanes to connect directly from the upper level of the garage to US 281 managed lanes developed by the Texas Department of Transportation.
