TxDOT I-20 Improvements
Features & Highlights
- Reconstruction of 5 miles of roadway through a vital energy sector corridor
The Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) IH-20 improvements project will reconstruct a 5.1 mile stretch of IH-20 in Odessa, Texas, part of the vital energy sector corridor. The 3.5-year project from JBS Parkway to CR1300 on IH-20 is the first of a $1.35 billion program of five major projects slated to rebuild IH-20 from Odessa through Midland, Texas over the next 10 years.
Once complete, IH-20 will be transformed to three lanes in each direction with continuously reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP) allowing for smoother, safer travel and increased capacity through the corridor. Along with adding lanes, the project consists of four bridge structures, grading, cement-treated base, flex base, hot mix asphalt, retaining walls, drainage, signs, signals, ITS and illumination.
