Features & Highlights
- Pre-constriction efforts found $13.6 million in cost-saving options
- Part of future phase of Gilbert Regional Park
- Ocotillo Road extended to include landmark bridge
Project Overview
Sundt is currently constructing new bridges and road improvements for the Town of Gilbert after a three-year preconstruction effort. Ocotillo Road will be extended from Greenfield Road to Higley Road. The improvements include seven bridges. The most significant will be a 264-foot steel arch bridge that extends Ocotillo Road over Gilbert Regional Park.
The scope includes design assistance, constructability reviews, value engineering and cost estimating at key milestones. After multiple design iterations and a value engineering workshop, we found approximately $13.6 million in cost-saving options. This allowed for a refined scope to help Gilbert preserve the publicly presented aesthetic vision for the unique design of the Ocotillo Road Bridge and accommodations for future amenities at Gilbert Regional Park.
