Project Overview
This 140,000-square-foot complex consists of two 30,000-square-foot hangars, each with a clear height of 28.6 feet, and a 68,560-square-foot multi-purpose facility adjoining the two hangers. The multi-purpose facility supports various functions, including 28,718 square feet of below grade parking, a 9,011 square foot below-grade car museum (with a car elevator to the above-grade showroom), 23,175 square feet of premium office space, and 8,000 square feet of entertainment space. The multi-purpose building includes amenities such as a cascading water feature, extensive architectural glazing systems, kitchen facilities, an elevated bridge clad with insulated translucent textured glass, mechanics shop, theatrical lighting, and terrazzo floors.
The hangars consist of a modified pre-engineered structural steel frame with specially sized insulated architectural pre-cast panels on the exterior, an insulating foam roofing system, motor-driven metal clad hanger doors, extensive cantilevered canopies on the runway side for shade, and epoxy coated floors inside. The complex employs extensive use of architectural concrete and decorative landscaping in the exterior areas and covered parking stalls and has approximately 82,000 square feet of 10-inch-thick “white” paving for the taxiway slab and aprons.
The exterior of the building features an aluminum airplane-wing-shaped roofing system with simulated rivets, and a 120-foot-long aluminum-clad structure, shaped like a folded paper airplane, mounted on the roof.
