Project Overview
During the pandemic there were not enough boxes available to support the increased needs of the shipping industry. Sundt provided construction management for a box plant installation on a greenfield site for Kruger Packaging. Kruger Packaging, headquartered in Canada, produces 100 percent-recycled containerboard and packaging. This plant is their first in the U.S. The construction management team provided project planning and oversight of all contractors on the project. Kruger is a long-term client for Sundt’s Southeast office and reached out because they trusted our team to keep this project on track and on schedule.
The 425,000-square-foot facility was completed in September 2022 and was able to commence production a month after construction completed. The plant is estimated to be able to turn out 2.4 billion square feet of 100-percent-recycled corrugated boxes annually and includes a highly-automated corrugator and four converting lines. The plant produces boxes for national clients such as UPS and Little Caesars.
