Project Overview
California State Fullerton is working with Sundt Construction on Sequoia, a new 512-bed, apartment-style student housing complex designed to provide affordable options for students experiencing housing insecurity. Scheduled for completion in Fall 2026, this $130 million state-funded project will increase the university’s on-campus housing capacity to over 2,600 beds, with 390 designated as affordable. The six-story, 155,000-square-foot building will feature two-bedroom, two-bathroom units with kitchens and living areas, along with student and staff apartments, laundry facilities, a mailroom, a market-, and outdoor seating spaces.
Located adjacent to the Arboretum and Botanical Garden, Sequoia is designed with a wellness-focused, garden-home concept, offering a tranquil courtyard for studying and relaxation. University leaders emphasize that this project is not just about expanding housing but about creating a supportive residential community where students can live, learn, and thrive. By addressing the growing demand for affordable student housing, Sequoia will play a crucial role in fostering student well-being and academic success at Cal State Fullerton.
