We’re pleased to announce that Sundt won the prestigious General Contractor / Mentor of the Year award for 2012 from the Associated Minority Contractors of America (AMCA). The award is presented to a general contractor that has demonstrated generous support of minority businesses through financial and in-kind contributions, outreach, educational development, and by providing business opportunities for minority-owned, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises.
“We hold this award in very high regard,” said AMCA President Ricardo Carlo. “We created it to honor companies, like Sundt, that take the time to mentor and work with small businesses. The judging is done by five people from a number of different entities outside of our organization.”
In 2012, Sundt’s continuous partnerships with a number of organizations and municipalities resulted in the mentoring of more than 200 minority-owned and disadvantaged enterprises. We invested approximately $30,000 in training for the small business community, and are proud to have awarded approximately 43 percent of subcontracting dollars to diverse, small, minority, disadvantaged, and women-owned businesses.
“Sundt takes pride in our diverse knowledge, experience, and reputation in the construction industry and in making a positive difference in the economic development of small and disadvantaged businesses,” said Marian Enriquez, Sundt’s Manager of Employee Owner Experience and Small Business Liaison Officer. “Our commitment to diversity is about building projects that support the growth and success of the small and disadvantaged contracting community.”
