John Carlson of Sundt Named Chairman of the Bordnernomics Alliance Board

SAN ANTONIO (September 20, 2018) – Today, John Carlson, Senior Vice President and Corporate Strategic Business Officer of Sundt Construction, Inc. (www.sundt.com) launched his Chairmanship as the newly elected Chairman of the Board of the Bordernomics Alliance with a speech before a group of business and elected leaders at the 2018 U.S.-Mexico Border Mayors Summit in San Antonio.John Carlson

The Bordernomics Alliance is a diverse group of bi-national business leaders who are creating a roadmap for prosperity for the US-Mexico Border Region.  In addition to Carlson elected as chairman, Ryan Richardson, chief of AHMSA International, Mexico’s largest integrated steel producer was elected Vice-Chairman of the Board.  Tracye McDaniel, Founder, McDaniel Strategy Ecosystems and former CEO, Governor Abbott’ Texas Economic Development Corporation, TexasOne, was elected Secretary of the Board.

There is an enormous economic potential for increased trade between the border states of the United States and Mexico that is crucial to both nations and is a win-win for both economies.  Our data shows if there is a one-unit increase in the Economic Integration Index, a common measure linkage among economies, the 10 border states can create a minimum of 800,000 new jobs and nearly $75 billion in annual Gross Domestic Product in the United States and Mexico.

Gains in employment with a one-unit increase in the Economic Integration Index for US-Mexico border trade include the minimum potential gain in Arizona of $4.49 billion and more than 63,000 jobs; $38.29 billion in California and more than 386,000 jobs; $1.32 billion in New Mexico with more than 16, 000 jobs; $25.25 billion in Texas and more than 235,000 jobs.  The projected increase in annual gross product in Baja California is $0.42 billion and nearly 16, 000 jobs; $0.45 billion in Chihuahua with nearly 16, 000 jobs; $0.83 billion in Coahuila with more than 13,000 jobs; $1.83 billion in Nuevo Leon with nearly 28,0000 jobs; $0.62 billion in Sonora with nearly 12,000 jobs and $0.64 billion in Tamaulipas with nearly 12, 000 jobs.

  • Bordernomics estimates that annual business activity in the 10-state area includes nearly $9.1 trillion in expenditures.
  • Bordernomics analysis of trade indicates estimated total export potential from the ten-state area of nearly $2.3 trillion per year.
