VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Feb. 2, 2016) – The U.S. Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Mid-Atlantic, Norfolk, Virginia, recently awarded Hourigan-Sundt, a Joint Venture of Hourigan Construction and Sundt Construction, Inc. (www.sundt.com), a $36 million contract to design, construct and renovate an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Consolidated Operations Complex at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek – Fort Story in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
The 150,000-square-foot project will provide space for operations, logistics, storage and administrative support facilities. The design phase is underway, with construction scheduled to begin in mid 2016. Completion is anticipated in October 2018.
“Hourigan Construction was an obvious partner for us as we looked to pursue this project,” said Sundt Project Director John Alberghini. “Together, we bring an exceptional combination of federal government construction experience, a wide range of highly skilled professionals and a deep local community connection that’s second to none.”
The EOD project is Sundt’s sixth project with Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Mid-Atlantic, in the last five years.
