Sundt is pleased to announce that Gloria Yu has joined the company as a project engineer for California projects. Gloria is responsible for establishing and maintaining effective and professional working relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers. She will also oversee project procurement, forecasting, contracts, scheduling and estimating. Gloria holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of California, Davis. She kindly submitted to a barrage of questions so we could get to know her better:
What drew you to Sundt?
Sundt’s reputation in the construction industry drew me to the company. Before joining Sundt, I heard that it provides phenomenal benefits and that if you work hard for Sundt, Sundt will work hard for you.
What are your responsibilities in your new position?
As a project engineer, I will be supporting the superintendent and project manager both in the field and the office. I will be resolving field construction issues, processing RFIs (Requests for Information) and submittals, and maintaining contract documents.
What are you currently working on?
I am currently working on the Cal State, East Bay Warren Hall Demolition and Replacement Building Project in Hayward, Calif.
What might you be doing if you weren’t working in construction?
I would be a financial advisor.
Where would you most like to travel?
I would love to travel to European countries like Germany, Italy and France.
How do you like to spend your free time?
I enjoy spending my free time with my family and friends and exploring new places to eat.
Best advice you ever received?
“The grass isn’t greener on the other side of the fence; it’s greener where you water it.”
Is there a person who has had a profound influence on you?
My college engineering professor. He always cared that his students learned and understood the concepts. On the last day of class, he reminded us to do our best in life and never give up on our dreams.
