At the age of 12 or 13, when most teenagers today are perfecting their video gaming skills, Sundt‘s founder M.M. Sundt had just left his native Norway as a member of the Norwegian Merchant Marine. It was 1877. Within months, he was promoted from cabin boy to ship’s carpenter – the first step in his long journey to becoming a successful builder in America. Details about his fascinating story, and much more, are chronicled in our history book, “The Remarkable History of Sundt Construction,” which can be found in its entirety on our website.
The process of creating the book began in 2010, the year Sundt (the company) turned 120. Its 15 chapters are packed with interesting details and historic photos that document the company’s earliest days as a sole proprietorship and its growth to become one of the county’s largest and most respected general contractors.
The final chapter of the history book has just been released today. You can jump right to it by clicking here, or start at the beginning and proceed through the decades.
