EXPERTISE
Development Cycle
The earlier a project can determine an appropriate engineered solution, the fewer development cycles are required. This reduces direct cost for the project by simplifying the involvement of third parties while also requiring less overhead per project for the operating company.
Construction
Sundt self-performs critical scopes of work in the construction process, including excavation and grading, concrete work, structural steel, and underground utilities, just to name a few. By performing these scopes ourselves, we control critical-path schedule, safety and quality.
Design & Procurement
Our extensive lump-sum EPC project experience allows Sundt to optimize costs while minimizing design iterations. Our approach is to focus on total costs and not component costs while finalizing the equipment selection and layout.
Performance Optimization
We optimize site design early and consider project-specific constraints. This ensures maximum production and revenue from the generating facility, while minimizing potential re-design and associated negotiations down the road. It is important to consider all factors in the site and performance optimization.

Tom Dodson – President, Sundt Renewables
Tom was the co-founder and CEO of I1 Energy, a three person start-up that grew
to over $30 million in annual revenue in under three years. At I1, Tom led the field operations successfully building 50MW of PV solar and 25MWh of BESS, growing a world class team, and supporting developments and projects in excess of 2GW. Formerly, Tom was the President of Amec Foster Wheeler’s Power and Process Business Unit for the Americas, leading over $2 Billion of annual design and construction with a focus on PV solar. Prior to becoming the President of Amec’s overall power and industrial business, he started and spearheaded Amec’s entry and growth in PV solar; executing and delivering $2.5 billion of projects safely and on-time. He has more than 25 years of experience in the design and construction of thermal and renewable energy facilities and is a licensed Contractor and Professional Engineer in over 20 states.
Topher Wood – Vice President, Sundt Renewables
Topher is an Industrial and Systems Engineer with $2.5 billion of executed solar project experience. As a co-founder and the COO of I1 Energy, Topher led solar business strategy and developed end-to-end solutions for its clients. As a key team member at I1 Energy the three-person startup grew to over $30 million in annual revenue in under three years. Prior to starting I1 Energy, Topher lead solar business development at AMEC Foster Wheeler as well as managed technical development effort for MMA Renewables Ventures.
Bobby Batista – Vice President, Sundt Renewables
Bobby has more than 10 years of experience in project development, management and engineering of PV projects. His experience includes engineering development and design, technical due diligence, contract negotiations, installation, performance guarantees, system warranties, commissioning and operations of over $2.5 billion of projects.
