Tell us about your favorite Sundt project.
The CSU Sacramento Science project was my first project with Sundt and the highlight of my career. While the project presented its share of challenges, the exceptional teamwork and the strong, collaborative relationship we built with our client fostered one of the most high-performing team cultures I’ve ever experienced. Beyond the rewarding process, the end result is an architecturally stunning building that stands out in our region. It’s a project I take immense pride in, and I love being able to tell my kids, ‘I helped build that.’
Why did you choose to work in the construction industry?
Construction has been a part of my family’s legacy for generations. My great-grandfather was a lumber distributor in Cork, Ireland, and my grandfather continued this tradition as a plaster mason in San Francisco, contributing to historic projects like the restoration of Fort Point. As a child, I was captivated by the skill and dedication my grandfather brought to his work. Later, I found joy in helping my parents restore our 1890s-era home in Old Town Folsom, which deepened my passion for building. Pursuing a career in construction felt like a natural continuation of this legacy, and now I aspire to create projects that my own grandchildren will one day look up to, just as I did with my grandfather.
What is your favorite place in the world?
Poipu Beach in Kauai. It’s my family’s go-to spot for getting away and enjoying time with each other.
