COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Giving back to our communities is a part of who we are.

Since its founding in 1890, a spirit of service and community investment have been a defining value and guiding principle for Sundt. In 1999 we formed the Sundt Foundation, which awards over $1 million in grants to a diverse array of charitable organizations across the United States each year. In addition, Sundt teams live our culture of giving back every day, volunteering in their communities, donating construction services, running charitable drives, mentoring aspiring builders, and more.

GIVING BACK THROUGH QUARTERLY GRANTS

The Sundt Foundation is 50-percent funded by contributions from Sundt employee-owners. Every dollar is matched by the company and then distributed through quarterly grants to qualified 501c3 nonprofits in our eleven giving areas: Tempe/Phoenix, Tucson, El Paso, North Texas, Central Texas, Sacramento, Irvine, San Diego, Salt Lake City, Charlotte, Florida and the Pacific Northwest. Local committees of employee-owners decide which organizations to fund in each of our giving areas, ensuring we support causes they feel most passionate about. The Foundation considers a broad range of social issues but gives special focus to under-served children and teens, domestic violence victims, and military veterans and their families. The deadlines to apply for grants are March 15, June 15, September 15 and December 15.

DISASTER RELIEF DONATIONS to rebuild our communities

Every so often, our communities face grave challenges from unforeseen events such as hurricanes, wildfires or the COVID-19 pandemic. To help our neighbors in need, the Sundt Foundation gives emergency and disaster relief grants on a discretionary basis to organizations at the front lines of these crises. In May 2020 as families struggled with the immediate impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sundt Foundation distributed $200,000 across all of our giving areas to support community food banks, domestic violence shelters and front-line healthcare workers. After the mass shooting in El Paso in 2019, the Foundation gave $10,000 to a victims fund. These funds as well as our employee-owners’ individual volunteer efforts have made a tremendous impact to protect, nourish, heal and rebuild several communities.

“Voices for Children is deeply grateful to the Sundt Foundation for your investment in our organization, which has allowed us to provide irreplaceable support and advocacy for foster children through our Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program during this challenging time. Without you, we would not be able to extend lifelines to children in foster care through their CASA volunteer.”
