Sundt Construction Welcomes New Project Manager

VANCOUVER, Wash. – (April 25, 2025) Sundt Construction announced the addition of Devanta Black as project manager for its growing Northwest team.

In his new role, Black will focus on supporting project delivery and market growth throughout the Pacific Northwest, leveraging his deep ties to the region and extensive experience in heavy civil construction. He will play a key role in delivering transportation projects that further Sundt’s mission to build critical infrastructure across the region.

“We look forward to having Devanta on our team. We appreciate the depth of knowledge and experience with large-scale infrastructure projects that he will be able to bring as he leads our projects,” said Ken Kubacki, vice president and Transportation Group, Northwest regional manager.

Black’s passion for construction began early, building residential homes before transitioning into large-scale infrastructure projects. Over the course of his career, he has contributed to several major projects. These include the world’s longest floating bridge, the $766 million SR 520 Evergreen Point Floating Bridge and Landings Project in Bellevue, Washington; the $1.1 billion Farrington and Kamehameha Guideways for the Honolulu Authority of Rapid Transportation in Oahu, Hawaii; the $5.5 billion SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California; the $114 million USACE Mud Mountain Dam Fish Passage Facility in Enumclaw and Buckley, Washington; and the $600 million Abernethy Bridge Seismic Retrofit and Widening in Portland, Oregon.

A Pacific Northwest native, Black earned his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Gonzaga University and is a member of the Associated General Contractors (AGC), Oregon-Columbia Chapter.
