PORTLAND, Oregon. (July 9, 2024) – The Sundt Foundation recently awarded $24,300 in grants to three Portland-area nonprofits.

“Our employee-owners are proud to contribute to organizations that directly improve the daily lives of individuals in our community,” said Ken Kubacki, board member for the Sundt Foundation in the Northwest region. “These selected nonprofits are consistently working to provide life-saving services and items to hundreds of underserved people.”

Project 48 was awarded $8,100 to support its mission to help foster kids by providing essential items and emotional support during foster system transitions. These funds will support the Essentials Bag Program, which will serve 650-700 youth during the coming year. These bags, filled with new, age-appropriate, and culturally sensitive items such as clothing, toiletries, personal care products, clothing, and hygiene kits, help to alleviate the immediate stress and trauma associated with entering foster care, ensuring recipients feel valued and supported during their transition.

Returning Veterans Project was awarded $8,100 to support its Community Supported Health Services for Veterans Program. This program works to close the gap in health services for veterans, service members and their families by recruiting, retaining and training additional providers to join the organization’s network.

William Temple House was awarded $8,100 to support its Healthy Food Pantry program, which distributes groceries and hygiene items to 300+ people each week. The Pantry is stocked with fresh produce, proteins, bread, spices, grab-and-go meals and a wide variety of staple ingredients. In addition, they offer essential items such as soap, toilet paper, toothpaste, pet food and emergency clothing.

The Sundt Foundation awards grants on a quarterly cycle. Organizations are selected through an application and review process, overseen by a committee of local Sundt employee-owners.
