Sundt Foundation Awards More Than $11,000 to Local Nonprofits

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Mar. 25, 2015) – Sundt Construction, Inc.‘s San Diego employees have selected six local nonprofit organizations to receive Sundt Foundation grants totaling $11,084 this quarter. The Sundt Foundation was established by Sundt in 1999 to give its employee-owners a means of giving back to their communities. It provides financial support to nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children and adults. Most grants are made to organizations in the communities where Sundt has offices and construction projects. The Foundation is funded primarily by contributions from Sundt employees and company matching. To date, the organization has awarded more than $6 million in donations to organizations throughout California, Arizona, Texas and beyond.

 

$5,000 Grant Recipient

Casa de Amparo provides child abuse prevention and treatment programs that educate, protect, nurture and guide approximately 1,000 children and 700 families affected by child abuse and neglect each year. The nonprofit will use the funds to support its Hayward Child Development Center, which provides therapeutic preschool for up to 23 children who are at risk of abuse or neglect.

 

$2,084 Grant Recipient

Escondido Community Child Development Center will use the funds to purchase a Belson outdoor ADA-compliant drinking fountain for its child development center, which provides quality, early childhood education and developmental and health programs for children four months to five years of age, at little or no cost to low-income families.

Vista Community Clinic provides safety-net healthcare services to impoverished and low-income residents across North San Diego County. Its services include medical visits, lab tests, some medications and monitoring supplies, and education.

Jacob & Cushman San Diego Food Bank will use the funds to support its Food 4 Kids Backpack Program, which provides weekend food for chronically hungry, extremely low-income children during the 2014-2015 school year. Presently, the nonprofit serves 1,580 low-income children of 33 separate schools in San Diego County.

Solutions for Change, Inc. offers homeless families a 1,000-day program with housing and a range of supportive services, including financial education, parenting, counseling, and job and social-skills training, in an effort to solve family homelessness in San Diego.

Survivors of Torture, International will use the funds to provide 67 disadvantaged children and their parents with critically needed, individually tailored and culturally appropriate services that improve physical and mental health, as well as overall well-being.
